I just woke up from a dream and my father was in it. It went like this; My dad was heading out to the balcony with a guitar in his hand and I was following him. Outside, it was night time, and as I looked above, there were bats and two helicopters in the sky. I could even hear the bats crying out. Next thing I knew I sat across from my dad, and he played a relaxing song. He starts to sing this song that I know, it's an indie song ("As Smart As Geek Is Chic Right Now") that I like to play on my ipod. Anyways... He sounded just like the artist even though they both don't have the same voices. Then when the song finished playing (it was a really short song) I could see two chandeliers inside of my house turn on and they were both very bright. Then I woke up. Oh my God, thanks so much you guys! I really do love my dad and I usually always follow him in real life and feel safe and warm with him in real life, haha!

Hi, so I am a teen and i really want to redecorate my room to be more grown up, but on a budget. the color scheme i want is purple, white, and a little black. i want my room to be chic and classic. i like the stuff at pb teen, but it is really expensive. i have to keep my furnitue, but i am allowed buy paint, a chair or whatever, accents, and bedding. right now i have a bed (all the furniture i'm listing is a very light wood color), bedside table, desk, and a dresser. do you have some ideas on how i could make it really cool?

Shabby Chic is about a vintagey sort of look. Sounds like the chandelier, curtains will work great. Usually furniture it artifically 'aged' and you use vintage type decorations. It's easier to understand by looking at pics than to describe.

It's very easy to paint and treat furniture to get the effect, although it does take a little planning and elbow grease, then it's just about picking your decorative items. There are plenty of books on shabby chic as well, you may want to check your local used book store and look at pics before you embark on this project.
Thrift stores, craigslist.com and garage sales are great ways to pick up items for the shabby chic look. When buying furniture at those places, check all drawers and doors to be sure they work well and push the thing a bit to be sure it's sturdy. There's so much great old super sturdy stuff out there it doesn't make sense to buy something that needs to be fixed.
For painting, you'll want to keep it light and airy. No accent wall. Usually some sort of white or very light. You could do a little dry brush of a slightly different color over your original color for an aged look.

Shabby Chic is about a vintagey sort of look. Sounds like the chandelier, curtains will work great. Usually furniture it artifically 'aged' and you use vintage type decorations. It's easier to understand by looking at pics than to describe.
