I have a couple suggestions for you.

If you like talking with people, try to stay away from the "temporary rooms". Find a room where people seem to be nice. Check out the titles in some of the rooms. Some are just random silly names, but some are things like pets, moms etc and people tend to be a little nicer when they have something in common.

Also, if you play a game like pool or some other card games, you can set up a private table for yourself. It can help you figure out how to play without worrying about the other people until you're more comfortable.

this is a great group of people who can help you with a lot of questions without biting your head off! They have everything from pogo game help, getting pogo games to work to just anything! You can also find people who like the same games as you and can help show you around. They're not affiliated with pogo, but the site is free to join and they have a lot of knowledgeable people. (you don't have to sign up to look around.)

Pogo can be a lot of fun and I know a lot of people have met great friends, even spouses!, through it! So don't give up because of a few bad apples!
