shabby chic decorating ideas
I have a very large wall to decorate. any ideas?
The wall is along my staircase and it is two floors high. My decorating style is shabby chic antiques. I likes salvaged rusty looking things. Any ideas
Pictures, black and white or Sepia! Do you have children or are you married? Take some of your favorite pictures of you, your family, etc, change them to black and white or sepia and get two different colored frames like black and white or black and silver. I did this on my wall and i have received so many compliments! I chose to change the pictures to sepia, it gave it more of an antiqued look! If the black frame seems to dark for your taste, then buy white frames and distress them! I think it would look awesome, especially going up a staircase. Make a timeline with them! I did this with pictures of our oldest daughter. I found our favorite ones all the way from when she was a baby to about a year ago and every picture she is with someone in the family. It's a great way to display pictures, decorate, and not look cluttered or messy! Good luck!

Ideas for a nursery boy or girl?
I love shabby chic and Victorian styled decorating. What are some good ideas for themes in my baby nursery for a boy or girl. Cartoon characters are absolutely not going to work for me. Any other ideas would be great. Also, I simply adore toile if that helps any. Thanks!

Do the nursery just just like shabby chic. Get pink / blue solid colors and accessorize with your laces and damasks and silks, etc. Your hamper should be easy to make as well as the baby bed (use your imagination!)
You can do the changing table accessories with the antique containers you have collected. Just keep the changing area white, clean and simple.
This idea is a really good one! Wish I'd thought of it!

If the idea she had is not totally ridiculous I would go with it and being the better person let it go and Know that in the future when something comes along that is important she cannot be trusted.
It is better to know your enemies than to be surprised by them when you cannot do anything about it. Here you have advanced warning and can accept it and go on and let your Sister's wedding be the best it can be.

I could happily live in a rustic place like that, too. I love the simplicity of it all. Did you notice that in the kitchen in the first photo there are three representations of how water is brought into the house? I thought that was pretty cool.
Visiting some of the old ranches in Colorado has given me some decorating ideas. I think I'll be visiting flea markets and yard sales more often in the future months.

His old piece of knawed-off beaver wood. We have had this in our home for over 23 years, since our wedding day. I have tried to fit it in to our decour in numerous places around our home, but it just doesn’t fit in. I even placed a sheer white bow around it to try to pretty it up, but it still looks trashy. No matter what I do, it looks like a piece of wood from the yard. It is special to my husband, because it was given to him by a favorite uncle to remember their many camping trips together. The uncle has since passed away, but we still have the wood! I would appreciate any decorating ideas, that incorporate beaver wood, that may be offered.

Wow– the amount of rooms and spaces you have quantifies it as a palace in my book! Congrats! You'll be starting your new life together soon and have a fresh slate of a place to create your new home. You have a lot of good stuff to work with.
As for the ugly floors, they don't look terrible, but you might consider decorating them w/ throw rugs. Apartmenttherapy.com is a website (pic w/ a throwrug) my roommate & I would look at for DIY decorating ideas.
