shabby chic furniture stores
acrylic paint for furniture?
i have and old table i got for 2 bucks at a yard sale, i sanded and primed it and ready to paint it, but its very small and i dont want to by a half gallon of paint from the store, cna i use my acrylic craft paints?
also how do i give it a shabby chic distressed look?

Well acrylic paint will chip and peel easily on a table, only because you will use a table a lot and many things will be put on and taken off of it. Acrylic paint is used better for picture frames, art projects, things that wont be touched as much. You can use acrylic if you have a kind of sealer clear coat of paint to put over it, which you probably don't. You could use spray paint, its cheap and it wouldn't look bad if you did it right. Either way, whatever you choose to use, here's an easy way to make it look shabby chic distressed:
Apply your paint of choice and let it dry. Take some sand paper and scrape it along the corners, spots along the edges, and maybe some spots on the legs. Then it will look like a piece of furniture you have had for a long time, but still new and different.

Welcome to Queensland!
I’m a Brisbanite, but last time I was at the coast I saw a few little vintage clothes/furniture stores dotted along the Gold Coast Highway -turning right from the casino (down towards the burleigh end I mean). I think there are also markets at Burleigh? That would be worth checking out. But overall I think you need to venture out of the surfers, central area to find those vintage goodies. It certainly is a different lifestyle from Melbs! Where abouts on the Gold Coast are you living exactly? Oh, and if you are after some OpShop finds here are the addresses..

Up here there's lots of used furniture charity shops but yard sales are pretty much non-existant. I'm not sure what there'd be down south though. (I'm never sure what's UK-wide and where the Scotland vs. England thing becomes important culturally). There's stuff like the British Heart Foundation's furniture stores: and there's also just plain used furniture stores listed in our yellow pages.

I love love love looking through furniture stores and mentally planning a future home…however I have about 10 years till I actually purchase my own. Darn you college apartments.

Starbucks has thousands of company owned stores, and their managers all have work stations and lap tops. It’s not about the baristas. Having worked for the company, a program like this would be a huge savings. Instead of having full versions of software not everyone needs, you can have a cheaper stripped down feature set. Even places like furniture stores where all the sales people really need email access but perhaps not the ability to create excel spread sheets, but the management in the store may need to do that or use a little power point for meetings. It saves you from having to buy a bundle for everyone that doesn’t need the bundle. And what hardware issues when the apps are web based? There is this magical thing called an intra-net. Closed access. Very different from internet. You don’t have to give you employees internet access to steam the software in a web browser. Broaden beyond pessimism and you might see the potential behind this.

I feel like all furniture stores suck at life. I have a VERY similar story to tell about my bedroom furniture. It took THREE delivery attempts before I had my furniture and every time I talk about that place my voice raises about 3 octaves and my blood pressure sky rockets.
Sorry for the disaster. But your table is awesome! And hopefully you'll get the couch of your dreams soon!

Without Wall Street AND the wealthy this city ceases to exist. The car services, restaurants, stores, doctors, cultural amenities, nannies, dry cleaners, decorators, broadway shows, car dealers, furniture stores…the list is endless. So, don’t wish them away…every other city in this nation wishes they had Wall Street in their tax district. And those bonuses directly correlate to private sector employment.As for public employees, I do in fact see many NOT doing what they are paid for, many disinterested in providing the SERVICES I PAY FOR with my tax dollars. I don’t have sympathy for you because your attitude stinks. You act courteously,responsibly, exceed the expectations of your job description and I’ll be willing to listen. Until then…not interested.
