shabby chic lighting I want to have an Italian themed kitchen. What colors should I use?
I'm moving next month and I'm more than ready for a change. Currently, my kitchen is a French country-ish in shades of blue, yelow and white. There are soft florals and a bit of shabby chic thrown in, but when I move I want to change it all. One problem. My current kitchen faces the east and gets a ton of sun which I love. New kitchen faces the south with one small window facing east. Not much light at all. I'm looking to have bright, bold wall hangings and accessories like dishes, tablecloths.....but what color do I paint the walls? I don't want bright walls that will clash w/everything else, but I also need something that will help "brighten up" the room when there is no natural light. Previous owners have it painted a very pretty blue-ish purple, but it is just too dark. Help!
Do a pale yellow or a light muted yellow-green. It'll keep the kitchen light-feeling but not clash at all with your current scheme.

How do you decorate a room in a shabby chic/french country styl?
I'm almost 15 and I love the shabby chic/french country look. Not the plain white and light pinks and yellows, but the more colorful versions. If you have ever been to Anthropologie or been to the website(www.anthropologie.com) you can look at the bedding and furniture to see my style. I just started redecorating. I painted the walls a light robin's egg blue, I just got a new bedding set that's white and blue with flowers and butterflies (hard to explain, sophisticated and pretty not little kid, kind of shabby chic). I think I'm going with blue black and white. I also have a pretty scrollwork wall hanging in white I'm putting up. Other than that, I need accesories here's what I'm thinking.

Silver would be a nice accent in the room for a couple accessories. If you want artwork on the walls I'd go with black and white photos and paintings. For a dresser I'd stain the wood dark so that it would look black or have a red wood dresser to match your floors and have a different pop of color. If you use the dark dresser I'd have a black and silver rug. If you go with the red wood dresser have a black and red rug. I don't want to give you anny specific suggestions of rugs and accessories because you shouldn't be influenced by me THAT much.

When I was ten, I decorated my room to look "shabby-chic." Shabby-chic is basically light, airy, pastel, cottage-type stuff. I'm fifteen now, and I'm done with that.
