I have tan walls with a white trim. I"m thinking of either black or white slipcover sofa and chairs. Black dining table(rooms are together).
What color and type of window treatment would look best? I"m not a big fan of mini blinds as I think the 1980's would want them back. I"m looking for something a bit chic/contemorpary.

If it were me, I think I would use white for the slipcovers and look at the links below for some contemporary styles. You need to determine what you are trying to accomplish as far as privacy and heat/cooling retention. If you have a spectacular view, go with something to blend into the wall color. If not so good, use a contrast.
Wooden or faux wood blinds would work as well as bamboo or woven shades for your style which would warm up the room. Accessorize with colors from your artwork, rugs and fabric colors.

I just got a new Home and purchased 2 Lovely Rich chocolate brown sofa recliner sets. Im going to be painting my walls a pale robins egg blue sort of color, and im wondering, what colors of curtains to use in the room? I was thinking a natural green, also what color of rug and coffee table? I like the Shabby Chic look but , not too country, Any ideas? I think an antiqued white table would clash with the brown and blue.. maybe an antiqued black or pale green? What do you think? any photos would be great. i really want to make the color scheme work.. Green Chocolate and blues.. ( more pale blues then rich) Thanks
We have similar taste. We have dark brown (almost black) Sofas and we painted one wall a pastel green for a focal wall then the rest a pale lavender (almost white). White looks gorgeous with lighter blues as this is what we did for our kitchen. Basically any pastel or jewel tone blues, purples, greens or yellows would look great. Try being Monochromatic picking one colour but then having it in diferent shades, textures, etc. Personally I think when you have a dark piece of furniture you want to spice it up with Bright, happy yet sophisticated colours. You can make it fit your mood as as well. For spring bright yellows, purples, and greens and a more dramatic feel use reds and silver and orange.
