My furniture is going to be white. My mom and I plan to have a little sitting-room type area in one part of my room. My walls are light purple; we prefer not to paint them but might. I like whimsical bedding (go to visionbedding.com to see, but I'm not buying from there cuz it's too expensive), chaise/ lounge chairs, beanbags, and just fun chairs in general. Also, light colors like blue with brown, somewhat modern but NOT modern bedding, and shabby-chic. Sorry, I'm a little picky! Target and Ikea are your best bets. I remember they had a shabby-chic line at Target., and they always have cute stuff. Ikea sometimes has very cute floral-y bedding and curtains, as well as some of the best inexpensive furniture ever. Notice I don't use the word cheap. Cheap condones that it is of bad quality. It isn't. Pottery Barn Teen is pretty good, they are almost always having some kind of sale, so check those out. UrbanOutfitters tends to have cool bedding as well, check the Apartment section. I used to have a larger bedroom with a little lounge area, library area, and office area. You can take a sheer curtain to separate them, if you wish. I would advise getting the Pottery Barn teen catalogue(it's free!) for ideas, and maybe if you want to buy their stuff.

shabby chic lighting I want to have an Italian themed kitchen. What colors should I use?
I'm moving next month and I'm more than ready for a change. Currently, my kitchen is a French country-ish in shades of blue, yelow and white. There are soft florals and a bit of shabby chic thrown in, but when I move I want to change it all. One problem. My current kitchen faces the east and gets a ton of sun which I love. New kitchen faces the south with one small window facing east. Not much light at all. I'm looking to have bright, bold wall hangings and accessories like dishes, tablecloths.....but what color do I paint the walls? I don't want bright walls that will clash w/everything else, but I also need something that will help "brighten up" the room when there is no natural light. Previous owners have it painted a very pretty blue-ish purple, but it is just too dark. Help!

I'm almost 15 and I love the shabby chic/french country look. Not the plain white and light pinks and yellows, but the more colorful versions. I just started redecorating. I painted the walls a light robin's egg blue, I just got a new bedding set that's white and blue with flowers and butterflies (hard to explain, sophisticated and pretty not little kid, kind of shabby chic). I think I'm going with blue black and white. I also have a pretty scrollwork wall hanging in white I'm putting up. Other than that, I need accesories here's what I'm thinking.

Silver would be a nice accent in the room for a couple accessories. If you want artwork on the walls I'd go with black and white photos and paintings. For a dresser I'd stain the wood dark so that it would look black or have a red wood dresser to match your floors and have a different pop of color. If you use the dark dresser I'd have a black and silver rug. If you go with the red wood dresser have a black and red rug. I don't want to give you anny specific suggestions of rugs and accessories because you shouldn't be influenced by me THAT much.
