shabby chic chandelier Shabby Sheek..(Chic?) Teen Room?
I'm getting my room done with new carpets and getting it painted. My mom and I wanted it to be Shabby Sheek (idk you might spell Sheek "chic" I have no idea....lol). So what should we paint it? And what kind of furniture? I've been looking into mini chandeliers...because I know thats in. I already have white translucent curtains and a white bed frame. But any design suggestions? Thanks!
Shabby Chic is about a vintagey sort of look. Sounds like the chandelier, curtains will work great. Usually furniture it artifically 'aged' and you use vintage type decorations. It's easier to understand by looking at pics than to describe.
I suggest searching shabby chic on line and looking at photos. It's very easy to paint and treat furniture to get the effect, although it does take a little planning and elbow grease, then it's just about picking your decorative items. There are plenty of books on shabby chic as well, you may want to check your local used book store and look at pics before you embark on this project.
Thrift stores, craigslist.com and garage sales are great ways to pick up items for the shabby chic look. When buying furniture at those places, check all drawers and doors to be sure they work well and push the thing a bit to be sure it's sturdy. There's so much great old super sturdy stuff out there it doesn't make sense to buy something that needs to be fixed.
For painting, you'll want to keep it light and airy. No accent wall. Usually some sort of white or very light. You could do a little dry brush of a slightly different color over your original color for an aged look.
