Okay, so my room is starting to look a little .... kid-ish, shall we say .. and so i've decided to re-do it to be black and pink. i am painting the walls a soft, light-ish pink and thinking about a getting a black and white polka dot bed-spread. i always found a black and white polka dot mannequin torso that would be really cute to hang accessories on.
annyways, do any of you know any websites - besides pbteen.com i've already been on there - that i could look for since i'm redoing my room kind of a shabby chic way.

hmm... If you were trying to get away from "kiddish" you may want to go with something more versatile, because there is a good chance in a year or two you may hate the pink and black. My advice to you would be to choose a more basic wall color, light pink might work, but it needs to be very neutral, and change around the things in your room. Bright out the theme with a bedspread that you can change in a year or two. I recommend IKEA, target, JCpenny, bed bath and beyond. not too expensive.

shabby chic lighting So, I'm a thirteen year old girl who's redecorating my bedroom for my 14 b-day. My room is pretty big. Ideas?!?
My furniture is going to be white. My mom and I plan to have a little sitting-room type area in one part of my room. My walls are light purple; we prefer not to paint them but might. I like whimsical bedding (go to visionbedding.com to see, but I'm not buying from there cuz it's too expensive), chaise/ lounge chairs, beanbags, and just fun chairs in general. Also, light colors like blue with brown, somewhat modern but NOT modern bedding, and shabby-chic. Sorry, I'm a little picky! Websites are good, but also your own opinions, tips, ideas, or anything helps. Please help me out! Thanks so much.
Target and Ikea are your best bets. I remember they had a shabby-chic line at Target., and they always have cute stuff. Ikea sometimes has very cute floral-y bedding and curtains, as well as some of the best inexpensive furniture ever. Notice I don't use the word cheap. Cheap condones that it is of bad quality. It isn't. Pottery Barn Teen is pretty good, they are almost always having some kind of sale, so check those out. UrbanOutfitters tends to have cool bedding as well, check the Apartment section. I used to have a larger bedroom with a little lounge area, library area, and office area. You can take a sheer curtain to separate them, if you wish. I would advise getting the Pottery Barn teen catalogue(it's free!) for ideas, and maybe if you want to buy their stuff.

How do I go about painting a piece of wood furniture to make it look vintage shabby chic? I'd like to go with a light color, maybe a light blue or green. What is the easiest way for me to do this? I am not an experienced painter, but I'd really like to learn how to do this.

choose the color you like, add a bit of white (look for warm white, you don't want to use blue-white) and a bit of brown (I recommend wenge). Put them together (say 80 g of your color, 10 (or 5) g of white and 10 (or 15) g of brown) and don't mix them completely. Paint a hidden part of your furniture. After a day, smoothly sand the surface with a 000 sandpaper. Then paint with a light cream lacquer.

shabby chic lighting I want to have an Italian themed kitchen. What colors should I use?
I'm moving next month and I'm more than ready for a change. Currently, my kitchen is a French country-ish in shades of blue, yelow and white. There are soft florals and a bit of shabby chic thrown in, but when I move I want to change it all. One problem. My current kitchen faces the east and gets a ton of sun which I love. New kitchen faces the south with one small window facing east. Not much light at all. I'm looking to have bright, bold wall hangings and accessories like dishes, tablecloths.....but what color do I paint the walls? I don't want bright walls that will clash w/everything else, but I also need something that will help "brighten up" the room when there is no natural light. Previous owners have it painted a very pretty blue-ish purple, but it is just too dark. Help!

How do you decorate a room in a shabby chic/french country styl?
I'm almost 15 and I love the shabby chic/french country look. Not the plain white and light pinks and yellows, but the more colorful versions. If you have ever been to Anthropologie or been to the website(www.anthropologie.com) you can look at the bedding and furniture to see my style. Anyways, I'm redecorating my room and it's the last time until college so I've gotta make it good! Does anyone know any good websites where I can get ideas?
