shabby chic lighting Best inexpensive way to revitalize old hardwood floors?
My house was built in 1954. The original hardwood floors have never been refinished. They had wall-to-wall carpet over them. They're a light honey tone. Used to be darker you can tell from the closets.
Of course they're dull, have some damage and some parts look better than others, but I enjoy shabby chic style and can't afford to get them refinished anyway.
I plan to put area rugs in each room. WHAT can I use to revitalize them some that is inexpensive and is something I can do.

shabby chic lighting Ideas on how to put some character into my bedroom?
I've recently redecorated my bedroom, it has cream walls with a feature wall in a copper/cream/chocolate/grey floral pattern. My carpet is chocolate brown, bed is antique brass, wardrobe is 'wenge'. I have a small bookacase in a nutmeg colour and a suede armchair which is a greyish cream.
So here's my question, there is a piece of wall in my bedroom which looks extremely bare. So I was wondering what I should do with it. (The bit of wall is just over a metre in width). So far my ideas are: Three shelves which I will put lots of 'shabby chic' items on, picture frames, candles etc. and run some white fairy lights through the shelves. OR Get lots of different picture frames, again 'shabby chic', all in cream, white and gold and have a wall of pictures. OR A nice print/canvas.
