White shabby How can i decorate a boy's room in shabby chic style?I wnt to decrate my house shabbychic but how abt my boys?
Shabby chic is like understated elegant designs, white walls, delicate flower prints and faded pastels. Furniture made to look old and recycled. Similar to french country and cottage designs but more toned down with whites.
You can still have the same cottage type feel, but use more masculine colors and patterns. A child's bedroom does not need to be in exactly the same style as the rest of the house.
I would go for more of a pottery barn look in a boy's bedroom. You could use a black painted woods, or a darker stain. Pottery barn also has some adorable fabric patterns for boys that still have that cottage charm without being feminie. If you can't afford Pottery barn, look at their website or catalog for ideas, then shop around. Target has alot of similar items for less.
If your son is old enough (not a baby), decorate around his interests, and allow him some input on what goes in his room. That doesn't mean he has to have cartoon character sheets and bedding, and wall posters. It does mean he can have things he likes, and enjoys in his room.

Where can I purchase foam (the stuff you sleep on when camping) but 4 inches deep and preferably in white?
we have a circular seating area the seat runs all the way round it. conventional cushions are expensive and look fairly shabby after a while (because of the shape the covers slip) i want to purchase the stuff described above but i am not sure what its called and want it 4 inches deep and white or another colour just as long as its not conventinal foam coloured. i reckon i can cut it. if any one has another idea i'm all ears. thanks for your help

I have just received an order from them. Good value and exactly what I wanted.
I like the idea of a lighter color to help give shadow to the carvings. I would keep the mirror at first, you can always replace it later if you don't like the finished product. You know yourself better then anyone… look around your home for a color that will blend in, but also bring attention to the piece.
I have been looking for some time now for one of the white shabby chic slipcovers but have not been able to find the kind that looks like hers. I would appreciate it greatly if you or someone else could help me. By the way, you have a beautiful website. I would love for my home to have that same look. I also really enjoyed the article on Ms. Ashwell. Thank you very much, Carolynn Vaughn Xenia, Ohio

Funny you should say that! Just this past weekend I started working on repurposing an “old” piece of furniture. Back in college my then-boyfried-now-husband bought me a white Shabby Chic (from Target) vanity and stool set. I have used it for many years as a place where I got ready in the morning. Now that we are older and in the beginning stages of transitioning our “extra bedroom” (this is where the vanity used to be) into a someday-maybe nursery I had an idea to repurpose! I took the mirror off the back of the table, sawed off the pegs that held it on and used some wood filler and sandpaper to smooth it out. I have primed and now I’m in the process of painting a few coats of black paint. I bought new brushed nickel knobs for the drawer and I am going to put the table in our dining room. I LOVE how it looks! As far as the upholstered stool– I am painting that black too and reupholstering the seat in preparation of giving it a new home in our Master Bedroom. Just for looks– maybe a stack of some pretty books on top. Total cost… $6 (knobs) for the table and $4 (material) for the stool!
Simply thinking about right type design on your Shabby Chic Mirror as well as your house would be ample in order to charm people the whole morning but planning on the price tag on Shabby Chic Mirror will dishearten you to definitely make just about any changes in the Shabby Chic Mirror. The very first thing you ought to remember is usually the volume of safe practices the actual Shabby Chic Mirror provides. You must keep away from everything crafted from flimsy or aggressively French Shabby Chic Mirror similar to scaffold boards and safe practices track with Large Shabby Chic Mirror.
